nigeltde: if trixie could just think hard enough she would undo everything (we're lovers)

Oh my god Denny Crane and Alan Shore just went to a spa together then they had a fight over what their friendship meant to each of them and then they got back together and talked about how much they needed each other and then they sat next to each other and smoked cigars and "Stand by Your Man" played on the soundtrack. I love love love Boston Legal; it's hysterical, in both the "funny" and "really quite insane" senses of the word.

ETA: hahahaha, the season three opener is called, "Can't We All Get a Lung"

Oh, I love Boston Legal so much. This episode is the one on NZ TV tonight, and even the ads had me laughing.

I think that the Denny/Alan relationship is the best thing about BL. Closely followed by Shirley and Paul. Denise is growing on me. And I am so, so glad that those two interns they bought in (to try and grab the younger audience?) have just faded away, because they just weren't funny. I miss Tara and Lori.

But, yeah. The one thing for me that has stayed strong through both seasons is Denny/Alan. And while the slasher in me wants to be all "Denny/Alan", I just...can't. The Denny/Alan friendship is what makes me happy - they're bestest best friends, and it's terribly sweet. :-)

Oh, I squeed so hard at Denny in a pink sweater. Pink!

And yes, this episode was just pure crack for me. They nearly broke up! And then they reaffirmed their friendship, and I was happy!

I've seen some slash, but the sex bits made me want to look away. I mean, I've read Kirk/Spock, but I'm not keen on imagining William Shatner naked at his age now, y'know? I think the best fic I saw (not that I could find it now, of course) featured Denny and Alan getting married for convenience purposes, because I can imagine that happening in an episode. I just....they're my OTP, but I want them to just be friends forever. Except, friends with the continual gay subtext which Alan keeps discomforting Denny with, because that makes me happy.

The first episode I saw was the pilot, and I knew I loved the show when Alan and Brad were facing off (back when we thought Brad was going to be a pretty-faced Ken doll - thank god we were wrong!) and Alan said...well, see my icon. Love, right there. Not to mention I so have a thing for James Spader.

There were three female characters in S1 who got written out - Sally Heep was Alan's first love interest. She was a bit sappy and bland, and I'm glad she got written out. Tara was exquisitely hot with a sexy British accent, and she and Denny had an affair. I liked them as a couple - she could snark with him, which was neat - but ultimately, I wasn't sorry to see her go.

Lori, on the other hand...oh, I miss her. She was able to snark with Alan, but in a much more clever way - she could have the last word, and leave him all "Huh. That was very sexy." She was a good girl who realised that she was hideously attracted to Alan, and knew she shouldn't be, but oh god they would have made a fantastic couple. I really wanted to see that, and I never ship het.* She also had a wonderful friendship with Shirley, and you got the impression there was an interesting backstory there.

Denise has grown on me since the priest-fingers incident too. When she was introduced it was all boring relationship/divorce stuff, and I was in mourning for Lori, and didn't want another blonde. I think that she's got a sense of humour - or a sense of acceptence of the ridiculous that is necessary for working at Crane, Poole & Schimdt - and that's improved her character.

I have to admit I very nearly teared up at the end of tonight's episode. "Denny...." "Crane." !!!!

*Except Doctor/Rose or Jack/Rose or Doctor/Jack/Rose, which I know is Bad And Wrong anyway. :-P
