in which I whine a lot
Dec. 9th, 2003 10:44 pmThe guy who first played me Bob Dylan's brilliant "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" said it was Dylan's scattershot attack on all the repellent figures and institutions of his day. What's sick is that it's just as relevant forty years on. How much has changed? Things have really only become worse, especially in regards to the ever-increasing influence/stranglehold corporations have on us and the constant toadying of governments to them. My favourite verse:
Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares
Propaganda, all is phony.
First three lines remind you of any recent news events heralding from Lafayette?
Anyway, the moon is full tonight and there are a few of just the right sort of clouds to have a silver lining, and it's nice to be reminded that as ugly as people get the natural world will always be stunning (until we ruin it).
1. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
2. Am I loveable?
3. How long have you known me?
4. When and how did we first meet?
5. What was your first impression?
6. Do you still think that way about me now?
7. What do you think my weakness is?
8. Do you think I'll get married?
9. What makes me happy?
10. What makes me sad?
11. What reminds you of me?
12. If you could give me anything what would it be?
13. How well do you know me?
14. When's the last time you saw me?
15. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
16. Do you think I could kill someone?
17. Describe me in one word.
18. Do you think our friendship is getting stronger/weaker/or staying the same?
19. Do you feel that you could talk to me about anything and I would listen?
20. Are you going to put this on your livejournal and see what I say about you?

1. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
Nigel, because I'm entirely unoriginal :)
2. Am I loveable?
More loveable than the most loveable-iest thing.
3. How long have you known me?
Nigh on fifteen years! Or maybe just the three....*g*
4. When and how did we first meet?
Heheh you sang a loveable little ditty that was sweet to my ears and stole my heart away ;)
5. What was your first impression?
Liek, omg! A rl DAAS fan! Kewl! Or maybe something a lot more shallow, like "She has nice glasses" *g*
6. Do you still think that way about me now?
Nope. Your glasses are way cooler now. *g*
7. What do you think my weakness is?
Men in eyeliner. Women in leather. Love and attention ;)
8. Do you think I'll get married?
Hhm. I wouldnt have thought so, but the right person at the right time, I guess so.
9. What makes me happy?
Fandoms. Intelligent conversation. Pretty movies with pretty boys/girls. Me *g*
10. What makes me sad?
Narrow mindedness. Wars. Destruction of the planet. Running out of cookies. That sort of thing
11. What reminds you of me?
Classic British comedies. Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Monty Python, etc. The Beatles. The OC ;) Many things
12. If you could give me anything what would it be?
A perfect world.
13. How well do you know me?
I'd like to think pretty well, but can you ever truly know a person?
14. When's the last time you saw me?
Saturday! :D
15. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
Just being with you and doing nothing makes me happy :)
16. Do you think I could kill someone?
I think everyone is capable, if not willing. Under certain circumstances, I would think so, but it would tear you up afterwards.
17. Describe me in one word.
Mine! *eg*
18. Do you think our friendship is getting stronger/weaker/or staying the same?
We've reached a nice balance, I think :)
19. Do you feel that you could talk to me about anything and I would listen?
Without a hesitation.
20. Are you going to put this on your livejournal and see what I say about you?
Waaay ahead of you *g*

*sniff* *huggles* You kill me! I *am* so yours *g*
Haahaa, cracks me up that you put Doctor Who in with the comedies - it so is! Not enough people get how funny that show is.
Assurances
Date: 2003-12-10 11:21 am (UTC)assurances
Out of the silent, silver moon,
Out of the mist of the Milky Way,
Out of the gleams of the sentry stars,
Out of the after-day--
Out of the wonderful songs of birds,
Out of the storm-wind's whistling throes,
Out of the living green of fields,
Out of the bloom of the rose--
Out of the music laughter holds,
Out of the lips with kisses curled--
Boundless assurances everywhere,
Out of the joy of the world.

R&G are Dead is definitely one of those movies you can return to time and time again and with just as much enjoyment. It's just so clever - and it doesn't hurt that Tim Roth and Gary Oldman are hot stuff ;-)
