Incredibly depressing day; all lessons spent on Holocaust poetry and accompanying documentaries for context. There's no way I'm doing an essay on this topic, I remember doing a project on Dachau last year that put me under the sea for days. Still, being depressed about it is better than out of sight out of mind. And I do think Paul Celan especially is very good. We heard a recording of him performing "Todesfuge" (Death Fugue) and it was incredibly moving.
Best moment of the day was when the most interesting person in my MIIE seminars gave me a hugely massive compliment. He's really smart and rather cute.
Made a fool out of myself by asking my MIIE lecturer for my presentation marks even though we both know I did well. Obsessive narcissism is never flattering, Jessie. Then I got home late after vainly crossing the campus several times in search of research materials and so I missed Doctor Who.
One lecture and one tute to go and then I'm done for the year, attendance-wise. In two weeks my first year will be over.
Cue freak-out, and not in the good Zappa way.
