If you're like me, you read that and imagine two giant robots battling with a little golden trophy resting on the quaking earth between them. POW! CRUNCH! BLAM!!!
For two weeks during the summer of 2008, an army of autonomous robots will march across the Wiltshire countryside.
Then you think, little tiny shiny guys swarming and shooting lasers across verdant hillsides! Slightly larger humanoid models with big feet crunching across them but eventually being swamped, and then the winners, mid-size buzzers flying overhead dropping localised EMP bombs and laughing, and laughing! Why? BECAUSE THEY'RE EVIL--AND THEY'VE EVOLVED!
Unfortunately, then you read the article and realise it's a UK MOD competition to find the best robots for urban warfare, human input greatly discouraged. :-(
