I am really enjoying John From Cincinnati. The latest episode, 1.03, is the best so far. My old Deadwood buddies, Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter) and Garret Dillahunt (Mr Garrett, Francis Wolcott) are making themselves felt with their hallucinogenic self-narration/ranting and gorgeously sad face, respectively.* I am kept entertained by the weirdness, it's not off-putting at all. I am happy to be taken for a ride. Some of the weirdest characters are the most tender and thoughtful and concerned, like the trio at the hotel (it's so awesome to see Louis Guzman not being typecast!) and they are so cute.

However, TWoP is right. It does need more Al. Oh, and it definitely needs more Jim Beaver.

* One day I am going to write something Deep about these men with their dark, sad, desperate eyes that make me want to cry: Dirk Bogarde in Victim, Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon, Dillahunt as Wolcott in Deadwood and now this doctor dude. But today is not that day.

On a completely different track, I've been searching for replacements for Body Shop products since L'Oreal took it over last year (L'Oreal tests on animals and owns a quarter of Nestle) and I have finally, FINALLY found a deodorant that works. There is something about my body chemistry that looks at the heartiest of roll-ons and laughs scornfully in their faces. I always end up smelling worse. However, the crueltyfreeshop.com.au sells Herbon roll-on which I have found to be very effective and doesn't have an overpowering perfume added. Their new lip balm is also cheap and works well. Now I just have to find a good moisturiser for my hands, which dry out like hell in winter. They're so gross right now.
