nigeltdeSaw X-Men 3.
Some great bits, some not-so-great bits. Rogue powerless makes me very very frowny.
Casting notes:
-OMFG ANGEL WAS BEN FOSTER from Six Feet Under! Who would have thought the art fag was ripped?
-OMFG! KITTY WAS ELLEN PAGE FROM WILBY WONDERFUL! She was so clever and cute and I really enjoyed her expanded role. AND JULIAN RITCHINGS WAS IN IT TOO! That means Callum Keith Rennie is one Kevin Bacon away from Ian McKellen! Why doesn't Ian just make Callum his boytoy now and save the extra bother?
-Ian McKellen possibly hottest person in film (at any age). He and Xavier were v. gay for each other (CHARLES!!) He was also gay with everyone else like Pyro and Pheonix.
-Famke Janssen and Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Romjin-Stamos or whatever also contenders.
Wow the Pheonix sure was powerful, what with all that standing that she did, and stuff. That one time, when she stood around and looked menacing, that was pretty scary. Nah actually I thought she was pretty badass but they kinda neglected her, especially in the final battle.
Post-credits sequence did not come as a great surprise, thanks to the Rent-A-Body product placement in the first five minutes. At least I didn't have to worry over X's death.
Impressive body count, although perhaps there could have been less peon death and more character death (Storm? STORM!).
Some v. unfortunate scripting (clunky lines and why Rogue why?) and acting (El Presicrappo) and directing (why didn't you just film it in 4:3 if you were so desperate to have everything fit into that ratio?) and CGI. But mostly good. I loved everything that took place at Jean's house.
When I realised what Magneto was doing with the Golden Gate Bridge I had a massive, massive, HELL YEAH!! moment. That bit was awesome.
For some reason had a quote from the Chapelle Show (that I haven't even seen) v. persistently on the brain, so like whenever something happened on the screen I was like HEY! DOES WOLVERINE HAVE TO CHOKE A BITCH? Actually it made the movie funnier.

But yeah, I too was really pissed off with the Rogue thing (omg she NEVER does that in the comics!), and Magneto's all 'What have I done?'. ppffffft. Yeah, right, wtfever movie writers.
