Yay I am back! In one piece, too. So much has been going on but if it's report-worthy I can't really remember it right now.

Hugh Laurie got a Golden Globe! Yay for him. Mary-Louise Parker beat the Housewives! Yay for her, and yay for her being so aborable, and yay for her John Spencer tribute (*sniff*). Yay for Felicity Huffman, it's about fucking time, YOU ARE TOO CUTE WOMAN! Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje aws there! It's about fucking time for him, too, he blew me away every time he was on the screen on Oz. He and Chris Meloni must have been constantly trying to outdo each other in the sheer animal magnetism stakes.

Lauren came round and we played a Golden Globes drinking game with cowboy cocksuckers (SO! APPROPRIATE! It only just hit me):

1 for Natalie Portman (she's obsessed)
1 for Hugh Laurie (I'm obsessed)
1 for a standing ovation, and you have to stand and clap
1 for tears
1 for a snog (2 for a same/sex snog)
1 for awful outfits (we had to cross this one off. Too many crap dresses. Drew Barrymore, for shame! Mariah Carey--AHHHHHHHHH!)
1 for an undeserved win (had to cross this one off too. Desperate Housewives as best comedy?)
1 for too-long speech
1 for every time "I wish I knew how to quit you" got soundbyted
1 for Mean Lauren (don't ask)
2 for a Brokeback best picture win
3 for lawn bowls (don't ask)

Good times.

[livejournal.com profile] frostmourne wrote this and it rawks my sawks. Guess which tv show:

Well theres this big ringy thing and it go flush sorta like a toilet and everyone goes whoa.
Then they step through it and go whoa.
Then they meet some aliens and go whoa.
Daniel bitches about some morality issue, other people dont go whoa.

Then they all go home and slap Keanu Reeves.

I think it's the Keanu Reeves that tips me over the edge. WTF? Heeeeeeee!

[livejournal.com profile] veronamay tagged me for a couple of memes like ten million years ago and I've just been sitting on them.

5 Guilty Pleasures
The first player of this game starts with the topic of "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule clearly. In the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

To tell the truth, I don't really have many guilty pleasures; I tend to "own" the things I love. But:

Gossip magazines: Abhorrent pieces of crap, but so many pictures of pretty people wearing pretty dresses! I don't buy them, but I'll give them a good leaf-through if they're around. New Idea and Woman's Day have perfect giant crosswords, too: really big, with clues from all over the place, and quite easy but *just* hard enough to make you feel smart...

Being alone: I know all the stuff about introversion and so on and I try not to feel guilty, but I guess I do because I often make up white lies, things I have to do or other people I have to see, when really I just need to get by myself and do my own thing. I haven't had enough time by myself recently and it's been freaking me out a bit. I'm going to start being more decisive about it.

Wine: I have heard (many) (conflicting) stories about whether or not animal products are used in the wine-making process, but I'll drink it anyway. It's too goddamn yummy, and the only thing that seem to get me tipsy these days.

I won't tag anyone but I'd love to hear all y'all's answers!

And vague memories of another:

1. Kate Bush - Night of the Swallow. I recently bought The Dreaming and this quickly shot to my favourite from the album. It's swingin'!
2. Cat Power - He Turns Down. Lauren got me Moon Pix for Christmas. The whole album is great, and I think Cross Bones Style will always be my favourite from it, but I've heard it a ton and He Turns Down is really, really excellent, really sweet and plaintive, and her voice is just extraordinary.
3. White Stripes - Jolene. [livejournal.com profile] lainy122 gave me an SGA vid to this song (excellent vid, btw), but ahhhh! Awesome song. I've heard a fraction of the original and it's cool too (so there Sel!).
4. Supertramp - Breakfast in America. Eee! Piano! Horns? WTF? Throw em in anyway! Best line ever: can we have kippers for breakfast, mummy dear, mummy dear?
5. Kanye West - Jesus Walks. Yes, I am STILL OBSESSED with this song. Maybe when Jarhead comes out I'll get over it. But hell, this album is the first time I've really been able to connect with rap and I FUCKING LOVE IT.

I think it was [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope who mentioned that she used imdb to keep track of all the movies she'd seen for the first time in the past year using the "my movies" page. Great idea.

1. Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom (2003) Aka Spring, Summer, Autmn, Winter... and Spring. Fantastic.
2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). Meh. BUT I have realised where Mr Tumnus is from! He's from Shameless, which is a fucking fantastic UK series repeating on SBS atm. And PRESERVED KILLICK (David Threlfall) plays drunken, deadbeat Frank! Perfectly, too. I really, really highly recommend this show.
3. Coffee and Cigarettes (2003). So many cool people (ready?: Cate Blanchette, Steve Buscemi, Bill Murray, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, the White Stripes, Steve Coogan, Alfred Molina, & more) in this movie, it almost implodes from its own coolness. But doesn't. I really enjoyed it.
4. Good Night, and Good Luck.. (2005) George Clooney is an odd one. I remember the days when he was just lame ER and Batman dude. He first really came to my attention with O Brother, which he's hilarious in, and in the last few years, pretty much everything he's touched I think is awesome. He is really, really good filmmaker.
5. Mala educación, La (2004). Holy Jesus does Gael Garcia Benal make a good drag queen. This is fucking excellent.
6. The Producers. (2005) I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. V. entertaining, if a little overlong.
7. Psycho Beach Party. (2000) Awesomeness. Marry me, Lauren!
8. Ringers: Lord of the Fans. (2005) Aw, this was great. I loved the special features, too. That fan Colin? I'm in love! Dom Monaghan, you are too cool for words.
9. The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash (1978) (TV) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
10. Welcome to Collinwood (2002) William H Macy, George Clooney, Sam Rockwell, and a heist. How could you go wrong?

Obviously I need to get in some precious OLD SKOOL (WORD!) time. I am desperate to see Marathon Man and the original Producers atm and [livejournal.com profile] lydia_petze has just given Victim a glowing review so hopefully I can add them soon.

And........I'm spent.

Whoops. Maybe I need retuning. Or maybe it's the presence of Tom Cruise on my TV sucking all the levity out of the room.

Do watch yourself in that garbage area. The recently-evicted neighbours left all sorts of flotsam there when they flounced off the other night.

And that is so not my candy. I would NEVER throw away candy.

Quick! Photograph it and sell it to Benny Hinn and you could make a fortune.

I don't care if he's a kook. He's so PRETTY, OMG.
