nigeltde: if trixie could just think hard enough she would undo everything (i'm so hip!)

Whoops! I asked [livejournal.com profile] electromoon to interview me a week or two ago and I totally forgot she replied! Sorry!

You know how it works by now; ask me to interview you in the comments and I shall ask you five penetrating questions.

(1) Ethical question - you are a ministerial counsellor, and one afternoon the current PM comes to your office in a troubled state. He confessed to carrying on multiple secret affairs with most of his cabinet (male *and* female), and is worried that, should the rumours come out, the whole Liberal party will collapse. He begs you to help him keep his secret, offering you a very substantial bribe. Choose one of the following: Do You (a) accept the bribe, and do exactly what he wants? (b) accept the bribe, stash it in a Swiss bank account before quietly inviting someone from People Magazine around for a coffee & a deal, (c) state firmly and categorically that you have high ethical standards and therefore cannot be bought (and then quietly someone from People Magazine around for a coffee & a deal), or (d) start haggling.
LOL!!! What I would love to do: b), and then watch the Libs tumble down around my ears. What I would actually do: e) Refuse the bribe and not tell. Damn ethics! Actually, I loathe all this business regarding Mark Brindle. Adultery ain't a nice thing in most cases but jeez, this shit is hardly newsworthy, Mr Murdoch. How many businessmen have affairs with their secretaries in their office? I don't really think who you screw has much bearing on whether you can function in government, unless it's, like, another head of state. Even then...

(2) Black cats (witchcraft) or Black roosters (voodoo) - Who wins?
All I Know About Voodoo I Learnt From Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. And I know even less about witchcraft. But roosters scare the shit out of me, so I'm gonna go with them :-D

(3) The Emperor or Voldemort - Who wins?
We talking Palpatine here? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I see them fighting a big battle before Riddle loses and becomes Palpatine's Sith apprentice (Darth Voldey). Then, of course, he eventually rises up and slays Palpatine in a particularly nasty way. otoh, if we're talking Buonaparte, then Voldemort would kick his ass.

(4) Lupin & Tonks together - what is your opinion on that, and do you think they will have much of a future together?
I was very unhappy about it when I first read it, and I'm not a die-hard R/S shipper. I thought it came out of absolutely nowhere and made Tonks quite boring. Plus, I would have liked to see the emotional fallout of Sirius's death for Lupin, and I felt cheated. I also was unhappy at what I've seen perfectly described elsewhere as the aggressive heteronormativity of the ending of HBP. I can, if I try, buy Lupin/Tonks, and it doesn't make me rip the book up or swear death to JKR, but I don't want to buy it, and I resent its insertion.

(5) Who do you think Snape should be paired with at the end (if at all), assuming he survives to the end of the series (give your reasons behind that choice).
No-one. Whether he's evil or good or dead or crippled or redeemed, I'm not really interested in seeing Snape pair up with someone the way JKR would write it. And I don't just mean the (lack of) gay; I just can't imagine her handling it in a way that would be satisfying or not make me throw up. On top of that, I just can't imagine who it could be, in regards to what would be publishable: Narcissa? She's too much of a wet rag. Bella? Actually, that might be interesting in a mind-fucky way because she's just so repellant. And of course, JKR does manage to take us all unawares all the time, and I would bust a gust laughing if Harry walked in on him and McGonagall or Trelawney making out in a closet or him and Lucius having nasty Death Eater sex in Azkaban :-D But I doubt that'll happen. That's what we have fan fic for!

Another meme:

1. Ten years ago:
I was in year five, playing Captain Planet and reading White Fang obsessively. Upon reflection, I might be too young for this meme.

2. Five years ago:
I was in year ten, reading atrocious books for English, getting utterly bored with Italian, and deep in the thrall of DAAS fandom.

3. One year ago:
I was in Italy, wishing I'd paid more attention in year ten Italian.

4. Yesterday:
Went to [livejournal.com profile] lainy122's and watched the (surprisingly tolerable, and with kick-as credits) On the Line as well as The Amazing Dancing Codpiece and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

5. Today:
Woke up late, fucked around on the net, avoided uni work, started to make Tori mix CD for a friend, went to the St Mary Magdalene Drop In Centre to serve meals to homeless, transient, etc people.

6. Tomorrow:
Over to a friend's to force her to watch The Emperor's New Groove--she hasn't seen it yet!

7. Five snacks I enjoy:
Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate with Peppermint Chips (best chocolate EVER); salted cashews; Anzac biscuits; dried apricots; plain Pringles.

8. Five bands I know the lyrics of most of their songs:
The Beatles, Einsturzende Neubauten (well, I can make a good show of the German. It's probably gobbledegook), Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party, Rasputina.

9. Five things I would do with $100,000,000:
Pay off my parents' respective houses; set up my sister and five-year-old cousins for life; buy every book, CD, & DVD I have on my to get list right now; throw a couple million into the bank for posterity; give some to friends, donate the rest to worthy causes. BECOME PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND RULE THE WORLD!

10. Five locations I’d like to run away to:
Canada, New Zealand, Florence, Ireland, Kakadu.

11. Five Bad Habits:
Picking at finger- and toenails; eating the last of the chocolate; getting distracted easily in the midst of conversations; never taking the initiative when it comes to getting together/in touch with friends; procrastinating, although that's more of a lifestyle than a habit.

12. Five things I like doing:
Making mix cds; doling out soup to people undergoing radiation therapy in my capacity as a Lavender Lady; chopping up vegetables with my excellent knife; mocking tv shows and movies while watching and enjoying them; remembering hilarious bits of TV or books or movies and being suddenly unable to stop giggling.

13. Five TV shows I like:
Due South, House, Monty Python's Flying Circus, West Wing, Black Books. OMG only five??

14. Famous People I’d like to meet, living or dead.
Abraham Lincoln, Emma Goldman, Hephaistion (especially if he looks anything like Jared Leto), Jared Leto for that matter, Michael Rosenbaum, Dominic Monaghan, Patrick O'Brian, Poppy Z Brite, Gandhi, Cate Blanchett. ETA: Oh and Emma Thompson!

15. Biggest joys at the moment:
My Hugh Laurie kick and subsequent media frenzy; discovering that my younger sister is one of my best friends; my best friends; hearing about Chelle's Amazing Adventures in the UK; discovering that helping out at the Drop in Centre is tremendous fun; the wonderfulness of not being forced to work for a living and being able study something I really enjoy.

16. Favorite toys:
Trusty stuffed dog, Dusty; DVD player; words.

Now go forth and meme also!

YAY!

Aye, our Big Issue is much much better, although I bought the next edition yesterday and it had an article from the Aussie one in there! YAY!

I'll be at this address til October 7th, and then will see Ireland (either by bike or bus) and then will catch a ferry to wales and cycle to London :D

P.S. Of course I wouldn't but if I just happened to I might ask him to put some lipstick on and kiss a piece of paper so I can send it to you and you can rub it on your cheek in girlish fanlike glee!

P.P.S. I think we swapped minds for a night - last night I had a dream that I was Angelina Jolie's lesbian lover. She wasn't very good in bed, either.
