The United Nations General Assembly has adopted an international convention aimed at preventing nuclear terrorism. The Convention on the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism makes it a crime to possess nuclear material with the intent to cause death or injury.

WHAT THE HELL ELSE DOES A NUCLEAR WEAPON DO? HOW IS THAT LIMITED TO "TERRORISM"? No WONDER people think the UN is useless!

Doesn't it say nuclear material?

As in, the stuff used to generate nuclear power, and do medical procedures like x rays and (i think) chemotherapy?

Sure, but they're not adopting this convention to prevent people from causing terror with chemotherapy, they're adopting it to prevent people from causing terror with weapons that contain nuclear material :-) Which begs the question, who the hell defines "terror" and "terrorist"? Because lord knows the USA has a sterling record there.....

I know! So tragically depressing...because I would be all over this thing like it was Viggo Mortenson if it wasn't for the bloody narrow-mindedness that so obviously underlies it.

And what's just as depressing is that even if the UN aimed high and tried to abolish ALL nuclear weapons countries like the US would kill it ASAP >:-/
