Is it just me or does Colin Farrell look faintly ridiculous as Alexander? I totally buy Angelina Jolie, though.

Yes, the wig is absurd. Also, Alexander was, if I remember, 19 years old when he set about conquering the known world. He died at 33. Colin is simply the *wrong age* to play Alexander. Leonardo diCaprio would be a better choice.

It's interesting you should say that; did you know that DiCaprio will be playing him in the Baz Luhrmann Alexander movie? I agree, Farrell is too old for at least the start of the movie (as I understand it, the movie begins with Philip's death and ends with Alexander's) and while he has the rough Macedonian look, that's unfortunately the look Alexander *didn't* have. He'd be better off playing Philip. I think DiCaprio will be good, and he can play older and younger than his age.

Hmmm.....from a great, great distance, maybe :-D Certainly the hair is equally bad. I;ve never really had a Farrell thing, but I don't deny he can act, so maybe all will come good. I think Jared Leto is going to look hilarious as Hephaistion, though. Heeheeehee.

I don't care how dumb he looks or how wrong he is for the part. He'll be kissing Jared Leto and from what I've heard he's quite adamant about getting in the gay. Bring on the gay Colin!

True dat! :-) But on the other hand, I really, really like The Persian Boy and I fell in love with that Alexander, and well, it's the usual movie-of-the-book syndrome.

Good on Colin (and Jared Leto and Oliver Stone) and all that, and I won't get into a rant about how so very brave men are to play gay because I don't think that what you were saying. Hell, so long as they bring the gay :-D I know I'll still be first in line anyway.
