nigeltde: crack fox is going to drink your blood ('M GONNA HURT YOU REAL BAD)
After being underwhelmed by the pilot episode and forgetting about it for two years I am finally caught up on Heroes. Thoughts:

  • Adrian Pasdar is not my type. I don't really have types, except, I am not into over-browed Italian men. I get enough of that at Christmas. But somehow, whenever he's on screen, I find myself thinking that I would tap Nathan Petrelli like it's liquid crack. OH YES! YES! YES! Not sure about the God thing though.
  • Milo Ventimiglia's bizarre stroke-lipped smile should not be as cute as it is.
  • Have two brothers ever walked around declaring their mutual love and kissing and hugging as much as the Petrellis? That is really awesome. I like the Petrellis. Seriously, did Sam Winchester grow a man-pain beard when his brother died? No! In conclusion: gay.
  • Angela Petrelli is fucking scary.
  • Mohinder is as stupid as he is pretty. Sendhil Ramamurthy is as good an actor as Mohinder is clever. The writers have no idea what to do with him. I fall asleep every time he shows up.
  • I was pleasantly surprised by Hayden Panettiere.
  • Kristen Bell is awesome and hot as usual.
  • I want Bell and Panettiere to face off more. They are the same height. It's hilarious.
  • Masi Oka is cuteness personified.
  • I like me some Haitian.
  • Even though George Takei sometimes looks like a robot he fucking rocks.
  • I like that romantic relationships take a backseat to familial ones, how every time to opposite-sex characters meet you're not going oh jeez, they're planning to hook these guys up. It's refreshing.
  • There are way too many useless characters. Aside from Mohinder I mostly resent the Sanders clan. I am so over seeing the same plot over and over again with that lot. Micah is destined to be a future villain considering how fucked up he should be from all that "parenting." He's also the best actor out of the lot. Keep him, ditch the rest. Okay, Nichelle Nicholls can stay.
  • Stop resurrecting characters (corollary: stop killing Petrellis). It was cool the first time you killed someone. It gets old.
  • I love that a prime-time show on a Big Three Network has huge chunks of time where no-one's speaking English.
  • Looking forward to seeing some old friends from the Wire.
  • I really enjoyed the fast pace of the first season. The second season was mostly snoresville except for a few performances. What kept me going was the prospect of a Petrelli reunion and they didn't even rip each other's clothes off when they saw each other. I call foul, writers.
  • Like Smallville, this show has so much potential but the ball keeps getting dropped by showrunners and writers who keep pushing aspects that they don't know how to do with subtlety and consistency, like romances (Smallville) and moral ambiguity (Heroes). We're too familiar and bored with their endpoints: superpowers and the Supes status quo (Smallville) and apocalypses (Heroes). They need to stick with what they do well: boytouching and daddy issues. And by that I mean Heroes at least needs to work out what it wants, where it wants to go, stop recycling plots, stop making characters so stupid, kill some people for reals, and take a position on The Company.
  • the end.
