PSA and Ute Lemper
Sep. 22nd, 2003 11:00 amFirst appearance of the Daleks tonight on Doctor Who! 6pm ABC, do Vince proud.
Saw Ute Lemper on Saturday night. She was everything and nothing like I expected. So tall, very statuesque. Her Majesty's was full and it's cliched but she just held us all in the palm of her hand. Incredible. And what a voice! I mean, that goes without saying, but wow, I was blown away. Her performance was really like a show, she narrated in between songs and had a few props and stuff (sexy red boa for 'Naughty Lola!'). Her songs were in, as best I could tell: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, and Hungarian (ETA:Oh, and German, duh). She did mostly stuff I didn't know but at the end she did 'Little Water Song', which was of course spectacular, and 'The Case Continues' which was even better. Also Mac the Knife and Port of Amsterdam! What a simply amazing talent. She said she'd be back in another 3 years, and boy do I hope she is.
