happenings and a book rec.
Feb. 25th, 2003 09:50 pmSeveral momentous happenings in the past couple of days.
I started uni. I live the campus life now, baby. Actually, Adelaide Uni is a gorgeous place with some really intelligent people and not the stagant pit of creative death I was afraid it would be. Although, I've yet to start *real* lectures. But the prelims have been interesting. I have one more class tomorrow, Linguistics, which I have to wake up really early for :-(
According to my mother I really need some new clothes. So I walk into Verandah Music and browse through the t-shirts and lo and behold! An Einstuerzende Neubauten T-shirt! And the coolest thing is it's just a large red print of the little mannie logo on the front, with no band name or whatever, which I generally find a little tasteless. And it was cheap. So yaaaay!
But in the search for other clothes I have discovered that almost every single clothing store in the Adelaide CBD is a piece of crap. Everything is just so boring. And expensive, damn. Between clothes (of which I've only bought a total of two tops and a skirt), textbooks and other expenses, that goddamn, seemed so essential at the time, I reckon I've spent over $200 in the past two days on, just, stuff.
And can anyone explain to me the current fashion of pink and brown? Because that I *really* do not get. Two ugly colours together just makes one uberugly garment.
( Denim is also very big. )
I've stolen a really cool thing from
lydia_petze
Nigeland.
If I ran a country my country would be a nice place, until I got too lazy to administer it and keep up with international affairs.
The best news of the week is the fact that the Dirty Three are playing the Gov on Thursday. Woohooo! I am stoked, they were brilliant last year. Unfortunately, none of my friends and family share my excellent taste, so I will again be going solo. The big question is, I just spent $30 on the ticket, can I afford the new album too? Hmmm.
And y'all are gonna hate me for saying this but excruciating as the Grammys were last night, N'Sync were hot. (Yes, Lydia, I am one of those *cough* people ;-D). And Lance was the hottest. Thankyou and goodnight.
