Jan. 1st, 2007 09:26 pmHowdy folks,
I hope you've all had a lovely holiday season. I have spent most of the last ten days eating, reading the Dark Tower series (like, OMG), doing crosswords, eating, and hanging with Lauren. I've been thinking of y'all, though! And I love yas.
Approximately eight hours before the new year began I managed to achieve a Very Important and Major Objective, simply by watching the second half of Heat (which made me cry, btw. Shut up. It's fucking tragic). Anyway, last year I watched exactly 100 movies I had never seen before.
Here's my list! Yay!
My favourite movie seen in the cinema was probably Little Miss Sunshine, with honourable mentions being Borat, Brokeback, Jarhead, Prestige, and V for Vendetta
Favourite otherwise? Probably Dog Day Afternoon, which is sublime in its perfection, technical and emotional and narratively. It triggered a bit of a Pacino freak-out (and why not?) so I also saw Godfather 2, Glengarry Glen Ross, Heat, Scarface and Serpico, and rewatched Godfather part 1 and Angels in America. Heat's probably my second favourite so far. And the great thing is, there's still so much more Pacino out there!
Pacino aside, I was also blown away by Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring), Die Höhle des gelben Hundes (The Cave of the Yellow Dog), Leon (The Professional), Last Night, Pride and Prejudice, The Proposition, Secretary, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Ten Canoes, and Victim.
Anyway, this year I intend to do it for books as well, with that library website (unless anyone knows a better one?), because what's the point of having an obsession if you can't feed it? Doubt I can do it for music and tv, but we'll see.
OMG I can't wait to get stuck into yuletide!!!!!!!!!!!
