nigeltde: if trixie could just think hard enough she would undo everything (ww by lainy)

A couple of great HBP essays, both of which have made the rounds but oh well, in case you haven't seen them:

[livejournal.com profile] fabularasa's extremely convincing Dumbledore does not plead.
It is Dumbledore who gives the game away to us, Dumbledore who is the tell.

[livejournal.com profile] lilith_morgana's insightful On Snape, Harry, Dumbledore and redemptions in HBP.
Most of us have been intrigued by the idea that despite everything, DD is so stubbornly trusting this deeply unpleasant man and we want to know WHY. While I still believe there is more to it and that we surely will be given reasons in the last book, I am fascinated by how HBP asks the more interesting question at this point – What is it that Dumbledore trusts Snape with?

Also, Australian House fans take note: the TV guide (at least in Adelaide) says that House'll be on on Friday night, but according to ebroadcast and the ten site Big Brother is so excellent and important that it'll be on instead. Meanwhile, what is up with the music that plays over the credits? I guess there must be a rights problem somewhere but I like Massive Attack's Teardrop way better and I hope it's restored for the DVDs.

"Yes, Rowling is invoking Aslan at the stone, she is invoking the kings of Numenor who laid down the gift, she is invoking all those "who loved not their lives unto the death." Deal with the allusions."

Good one - I actually had that scene in mind when re-reading DD's death after having a good look at the theories.
